Although we live in Traverse City, we love Grand Rapids and spend many weekends there! Below are some of our favorite places to visit in the area.
One of our favorite places to eat!
Greek, Turkish & Bosnian standards delivered at this low-key place offering cocktails & desserts as well.
Grab lunch, coffee, or dessert here. There are a few foodie-type shops as well. Try Juju Bird for lunch!
We go here every time we are in GR. Everything is delicious! Gluten-free treats available here too.
Amazing food for breakfast or lunch! Typically pretty busy on the weekend, but worth the wait if you miss the hotel breakfast!
About 45 minutes outside of GR but is one of our favorite beaches and worth the trip if you will be in town for the weekend. There are trails for hiking here as well!
We go to many concerts here throughout the year. Thursday May 30, Marcus King is performing. Saturday June 1, comedian Celeste Barber is scheduled.
Plan at least a couple hours here to check out all of the gardens!
Tim McGraw is performing here Saturday, June 1 or if you're in town early, Hozier is performing Wednesday, May 29.
The Lantern Festival happening here April 10-June 16 7:30-10:30pm.
From their website:
The Grand Rapids Lantern Festival is a truly breathtaking experience for all ages. John Ball Zoo is the first and only place you can see these incredible works of art in Michigan. The lantern festival will feature handcrafted Asian lantern displays that will illuminate the Zoo and tell the intersecting story of wildlife and Asian culture.
